Enrichment Programs

Introduction to Coding and Critical Thinking

  • 10-Weeks of FunTech Activity
  • Woodside Montessori Academy Elementary Campus
  • Grade 1-6th
  • Cost: $300 +$20* for Micro:Bit
Coding skills are highly desirable and will continue to become even more important in the future. During this afterschool activity, students learn how to operate the tiny but powerful BBC Micro:Bit. Students apply Math con-cepts, and learn how to use JavaScript to make things happen. The need for JavaScript programmers is on the rise and will continue to do so for a long while because of its wide use in Web Development.

Over this school year, students will learn how to configure the Micro:Bit JavaS-cript Blocks Editor chips and set up the environment to code using MakeCode, a JavaScript Blocks Editor, in a fun and immersive environment. Students will apply their newly acquired procedural thinking skills that they learnt to build many fun and working projects to use in the daily life.

     2. Learn how to set up Microsoft’s environment to program their Micro:Bit
