Summer 2011

Discover! Explore! Challenge!
Woodside Montessori’s Summer Program, each day’s plan includes a balance of group projects/games and times when children can make their own choice of activity. Each week’s theme includes a component of learning/inquiry — we think and play!
Our program offers a relaxed yet stimulating setting in which children can grow cognitively, emotionally, and socially. Each week’s program is designed to work equally well as a stand-alone experience or as part of a summer-long adventure.
We welcome the addition of children who do not attend Woodside Montessori’s school year program, as this adds to the richness of our community. Join us for summer fun!
Preschool: Ages 2.9 years – 6 years
The preschool summer program – Discover!- has a structure similar to our school-year preschool program. It is led by one of our year-round Montessori teachers. The summer program is more recreationally focused than the school-year program, but still focuses on hands-on learning, social, emotional, language development, and fun!
The children are cooking, reading, singing, running, making friends, and learning something new every day!
Our one & two week sessions include the following selections:
- Growing Green
- Oceans Ahoy
- Creative Cooking for Kids!
- Life Cycles: Insects/ Butterflies/ Frogs
- Budding Builders!
- Montessori Orientation!
Elementary: Ages 7-12
The elementary summer program -Explore!- students experience an interactive program that encourages curiosity, problem solving skills, and confidence. While forming new friendships, they will continue to develop academic skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Students have ample time to enjoy the summer with the discovery and play that it brings. Students enrolling in Explore! sessions must have completed first grade.
Our sessions include the following selections:
- Lego Robotics
- Rocketry
- Papermaking & Photography
Note: Due to the complexity and stimulating nature of our elementary programs—these sessions are designed for two weeks!
