Why Montessori?
A Montessori Education:
- Prepares students to be life-long learners
- Develops the whole student
And is:
- Interdisciplinary
- Focused on the Student
- Hands-on; allowing for problem solving
- Instrumental in developing self-confidence and leadership skills
- Collaborative; student to student, student to teacher, teacher to student
- Academically rich and challenging
According to the American Montessori Society, the goals of Montessori education are:
To stimulate the student’s innate love of learning
- To provide a nurturing, cooperative learning environment
- To incorporate all the senses in the learning experience
- To consider the whole student: “The physical, emotional, social, aesthetic, spiritual, and cognitive needs and interests are inseparable and equally important.”
- To encourage respect for self, others, the environment, and all life
